COMPARISON OF RESPONSES OF THE FRICTION OSCILLATOR FOR VARIOUS FRICTION MODELS

Abstract


Mathematical modelling and numerical analysis of a vibrating mechanical system with dry friction present between the mass and its support is presented. Qualitatively different friction models applied in simulations are discussed including so-called sensitive friction characteristic. Their influence on the dynamics on the attractor of the friction oscillator is investigated through bifurcational analysis and responses compared. The analysis is supported by estimation of the system’s Lyapunov exponents by means of the synchronization method.
